Coxswain’s Enhanced Vision
System (CEVS)
Sage is under contract with the Department of
Homeland Security (DHS) to develop a helmet mounted
goggle system to provide US Coast Guard coxswains
with a wide field of view in dark or low light
conditions. The market for this product is very
large because the DHS will provide the equipment
to support the U.S. Coast Guard, and Immigration
and Custom Enforcement Coxswains. Sage is the
prime contractor and system integrator for this
project.
The CEVS will provide a 150° by 59° field of
vision with resolution roughly comparable (analog
vs. digital comparisons are not always exact)
to the I2 ~64 lp/mm, while providing both visible
and SWIR sensitivity for day/night vision enhancement
capability. The total power consumption of this
device is expected to be less than 2.0 W.
The CEVS is presently under development with
Alpha units planned for mid – 2008. The funded
portion of the development will terminate at that
time and commercialization efforts will commence
under in-house funding. The CEVS is planned to
be in Beta production by early 2009.
